Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Did You Do?

Brown Bear is our class reading buddy. During the school week, Brown Bear resides in our classroom where he spends his days "assisting" the students with their classwork. On the weekends, however, he gets to go home with one of the students. That's when his real adventures begin! The students allow Brown Bear to participate in all their normal activities during his visit with them, and they take two or three pictures with Brown Bear's camera which are added to the photo album he takes with him in his backpack. Also included in his backpack is the book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? The students also choose one or two other books from school to take with them. The student and their family read these books with Brown Bear during his visit. He also takes a journal with him to each student's house, and the student "writes" a sentence or two about Brown Bear's visit. They may need a little help from their parents with the writing-most copy the sentences after their mom or dad writes it for them first. Then, they draw a picture to go with their writings. On Monday, the student returns Brown Bear to school and tells all of his/her classmates about their adventures.
